McDonald’s fries are getting fancy, at least in international markets. The Golden Arches just introduced truffle fries to their restaurants in Singapore, as part of their special limited-edition holiday menu.

Before you contemplate the perplexity of McDonald’s spending precious revenue on some of the most expensive ingredients in the world, the fast food chain is not actually using real truffles on their fries, or even the chemically-laced truffle oil.These McDonald’s fries will be enhanced with shaker truffle-flavored seasoning that comes in packets.

The Shakin’ Flavor fries were introduced last year to Midwestern markets and came in several varieties: Garlic Parmesan, Zesty Ranch and Spicy Buffalo. And in the Singapore market, Shakin’ Flavor fries have appeared in the form of packets of cheese and seaweed seasoning. It’s safe to say that the truffle flavor is their poshest variety yet.

There’s no word yet on if or when the truffle fries will make their way to the United States.
